On 22 April 2025, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat proudly reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality and inclusive policing by participating in a prestigious networking event held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event formed part of the Top Women in Security ASEAN Region Awards 2025, an initiative that recognizes and honors the exceptional achievements of women in the law enforcement and security sectors across ASEAN.
Representing the Secretariat, Executive Director Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan and Director for Plans and Programmes Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc joined a distinguished group of regional leaders, advocates, and professionals dedicated to promoting women’s leadership in security. The event was facilitated by Mr. Chris Cubbage CPP, CISA, GAICD, Director & Executive Editor of MySecurity Media, and a Top 40 Thought Leader in Security & Life Safety, whose efforts continue to advance meaningful recognition for women in the field.
This annual awards program serves as a vital platform to amplify women’s contributions to peace, safety, and security, in line with the global Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. As an official Supporter of the Awards, ASEANAPOL is committed to furthering its mission to promote inclusive, professional, and collaborative regional policing.
In support of this initiative, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat has already disseminated invitations to all ASEANAPOL Member Countries (AMCs), encouraging them to nominate exceptional women personnel who are champions in their respective fields and who have significantly contributed to advancing the WPS agenda. Through this meaningful partnership, ASEANAPOL is taking proactive steps to: Promote the Awards across all ASEANAPOL Member Countries; Facilitate formal invitations to national police organizations to support and endorse nominations; and Advocate for the creation of dedicated award categories for female police officers, ensuring their efforts and leadership are celebrated across the region.
This initiative reflects not only the recognition of individual excellence, but also ASEANAPOL’s strategic goal of uplifting women as key agents of peace and regional cooperation. By spotlighting the achievements of women in policing and security, ASEANAPOL continues to foster a culture of professionalism, diversity, and unity among its Member Countries.
Together, we celebrate and empower the women who shape the future of ASEAN’s peace and security landscape.
